About

Perennity is a collection of sustainable home décor and fashion accessories handcrafted from washable paper. Each piece is lovingly made by hand with an obsessive attention to detail in Des Moines, Iowa.

The Material

Washable paper fabric is a sustainable, plant-based fiber made similarly to paper. It is produced by pressing together wood pulp with a small amount of natural latex resulting in a material that washes and sews like fabric, but has the durability and texture of leather.

The pulp used to create the paper is responsibly sourced and is FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council) certified, meaning the production of this material does not contribute to deforestation. It is also accredited by Oeko-Tex, which tests for harmful substances in textiles.

The material goes by many names including washable paper, paper leather, vegan leather and many more. Regardless of what you call it, we love this fabric for its environmentally responsible production and its beautiful and unique look. You'll always turn heads with your Perennity paper bag.

The Dye Process

The most popular colors in our collection have been dyed by hand in small batches. As a result of this process, variations in color or slight blemishes can occur. We believe this enhances the items individual beauty and makes each piece truly one-of-a-kind!

All Perennity dyes are created in house using natural, botanical ingredients as well as low-impact vegan dyes. This process creates beautiful earthy colors that cannot be achieved with traditional chemical dyes used in fast fashion. It also ensures we know exactly what goes into each dye which means no chemicals for you and no pollution runoff for our community.
